Why We Don't Use Purely AI-Generated Blog Posts

Blog posts and landing pages can do a lot for your search engine optimization, but they shouldn't be exclusively created by AI.

The dead internet. It's a conspiracy that before long, the internet will be populated with content created by bots, being read by bots, commented upon by bots, shared by bots, and consumed by bots. We haven't reached the dead internet yet, but there certainly are businesses out there who are using AI irresponsibly. You won't find that kind of behavior here at Unnamed Media.

An emoji of a man crossing his arms over his chest wards off cluttered images of binary code, an evil-looking robot, the globe which represents the world wide web, and the "no internet" t-rex from Google with an x for eyes. This represents the way UNM does not follow the harmful practices of some other businesses.

We Believe Human Generated Content Matters

We like to say we create content "by humans, for humans." We believe that AI is a wonderful tool that we can use to bolster our efforts, and in particular, to eliminate certain minutia to ensure that we are spending our hours doing creative work we're passionate about.

Our content, whether it's a video, a photo, a blog post, a landing page, a website, a Facebook post, or a Google Ad, is created with the intention that a person (like you!) will be the end user. We want to create content that people will encounter, enjoy, and find useful! And that's why we don't ever post content purely created by AI. Our team writes, edits, and crafts everything that we post. While we may use AI as a tool, we'd never post straight from Chat GPT, and we'd never code a bot to produce empty, useless articles en masse just to boost our ranking.

If we get ranked higher in Search, it's because we've earned it. And while we're proud of our effort, this isn't a pride thing. We believe our commitment to human-made content is part of what keeps UNM future-proof.

We Believe Human Generated Content is Future-Proof

Remember back in the days of phone books when companies were called "AAA Lawncare" or "AAA Hardware" to list higher in the directory? While those companies are still doing just fine, their use of the letter A just isn't serving them the way it used to.

If you've ever been on a webpage and found it absolutely cluttered with mindless, borderline illegible junk (we call that keyword stuffing), you've found someone who used what we consider a cheap way to elevate their SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This works a little bit like hacking the phone books with AAA in your LLC name, but has become similarly ineffective. Algorithms continue to become wiser, and soon enough, mass-produced blog posts will go the way of keyword stuffing: they will no longer have a measurable, consistent impact on SEO.

A search for "Edible cookie dough recipe" prompts an illegible word salad of keyword stuffing around the words "cookie dough." Over top of the chaotic word vomit there is a drawing of a woman with many speech bubbles coming out of her mouth, speaking to a man who is visibly confused and overwhelmed. This represents the user experience when encountering keyword-stuffed articles.

Instead, we promote the use of human-generated content. We never look down on someone for using AI to get a start--some of us edit better than we write, and the blurb we get from a bot gives us a great jumping off point. But in the end, all of our content is created by people. It sounds natural. It contains information we feel has genuine value.

We believe that as the algorithms continue to grow and change, it's content like ours that will receive a better ranking. Because even if someday the internet becomes a playground of bots retweeting bots, people will still be looking for video and marketing support.

And we'll be here, human, and happy to help.
